MSNBC will no longer simulcast the Imus in the Morning program. After, his derogatory comments and racial slurs describing the Rutgers Women’s Basketball Team, the public (ok-the sponsors such as Proctor & Gamble etc.) have spoken.
We all flub on occasion (but not on national television). It’s a lesson for all. Our words are powerful. Whether among family or colleagues. I for one, will be reminded to choose them wisely in the following days, with thoughts of how they will be received.
Words can hurt, they can lift another, they can be damaging, they can provide comfort, they can illicit fear, they can foster positive attention, they can feed the soul, they can be cruel, they can nurture, they can condemn, they can elevate a disposition, they can move one toward faith, they can cause us to dive into despair, they can also heal. That’s all I have to say.
With deep reverence for all people, all ways, and all workplace policies that keep us human.
