WorkLife Monitor Podcast: A Baby Boomer takes Authors from Brainstorming to Bestseller
For young boomer Kim Weiss, retirement is not even a fleeting thought. She’s the Communications Director for HCI Books in Deerfield Beach, Florida – well known for scores of bestsellers including the legendary Chicken Soup for the Soul series, A Child Called “It” and What the Bleep do We Know?
After more than a decade with HCI, she felt the need to expand her creative passion for books and their impact on the world in a different way. Infused with a new desire to take her skills to people who wouldn’t generally have access to them, she began her own company – while continuing her work at HCI.
As you’ll hear in this Work/Life Monitor Podcast, she gave her decision a lot of thought, and carefully planned her strategy in her approach to her current employer. Kim Weiss also has a lot to share about the way she runs her business, and of course advice for those who are ready to take the plunge into the world of publishing as an author. Her expertise promoting non-fiction book authors has taken her to a new level now – as a business owner.
