Thank you for bringing up a topic that is very important and often overlooked. The number 1 cost in health care for business is depression, a cost which is 70% higher than diabetes (the #2 cost). Yet little attention is given to the prevention of depression. In addition, the condition of being stressed, depressed, anxious, and angry are conditions that not only contribute to chronic disease but often reduce motivation to participate in behavioral change programs to improve physical health.

We need to be serious about addressing emotional wellness if we are going to have a real impact on the health and well being of our citizens.
